Our Purpose

We are called "Verge" because we believe the church should always live on the edge of where God is moving—on the verge of breakthrough, revival, and transformation in our neighborhoods and our world. We exist not to retreat from culture, but to engage it with truth and grace, acting as a catalyst for spiritual awakening and social impact. Everything we do flows from a deep conviction that the church is not a building but a movement—ordinary people filled with an extraordinary Spirit, carrying light into darkness and love into brokenness. Verge Church exists to lead people into the adventure of faith and to be a church that lives sent, for the sake of the world.

Our Vision: Living a Compelling Life for Christ

Why is Verge here?

Our vision is simple: to live a compelling life for Jesus and follow Him completely. We believe the lives of those who first followed Jesus still speak to us today. At Verge, we want to look back and learn from the early disciples and the church that emerged through them. What did they see? What did they hear? And what does that mean for us now?

The words of Jesus still carry the power to transform lives. In Him, we discover our true purpose and His original design for us. This transformation begins in the heart, moving us beyond a life of mere religion into a life of deep relationship with Him. This is how we step into His compelling work in the world today.

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.”

— 2 Corinthians 5:14–15

Our Mission: Following Jesus on a Mission

How do we live our daily lives for Jesus? As disciples carrying this compelling message, we look to the example of the early followers of Christ. From their lives, we see four key practices that guide us in living out our faith in tangible ways:

  1. Serving One Another
  2. Building a Christ-Centered Community
  3. Growing in Our Faith in Jesus
  4. Sharing the Hope of Jesus with Others

These missional practices invite us to participate in Jesus’ redemptive work in the world. They shape a daily rhythm that keeps Jesus at the center of everything we do.

“That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.”

1 Timothy 4:10–16

Our Values: Guardrails for Living on Mission

How do we stay on track in our mission? What guides our steps?

When you value something, you see it as important and worthwhile. Embracing clear values strengthens the quality of our missional work, shapes our methods, and frames the “how” of fulfilling our calling as a church.

Caring deeply for one another, we celebrate successes and encourage one another through failures. Each day brings new opportunities to learn and grow in our relationship with Christ. We approach our mission with creativity, seeking practical solutions to advance God’s work and working together to help every ministry succeed. Serving one another brings joy as we journey together in following Jesus. Confident in our calling and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we live out the Gospel in every area of life. Passionate about life-on-life ministry, we are committed to helping others follow Jesus with intentional care.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

-Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)

Our Ethos: Building a Jesus-Centered Culture

What holds everything together? How do we witness this work in action? As a church committed to living a life that runs counter to our natural inclinations, we rely on the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit who works within us, bringing about real transformation.

Through the Spirit’s leading, we begin to embed intentional practices into our everyday lives—habits that keep Jesus at the center of our motives. Our ethos flows outward from the inward change the Spirit produces, and it becomes evident in the way we value and treat one another. The culture of our church is something people can feel. It’s the collective expression of our vision, mission, values, and beliefs—all grounded in Christ.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

—John 13:34–35 (ESV)
